Week 2 as a Grandma...
I am earning my Southwest Airlines free ticket at warp speed. Today is Monday and I am flew down to Corona to spend the week with Blake and his parents. At this moment, I am sitting in the living room rocking Blake ,who is in his carseat, as he takes a snooze. I have already changed his diaper and fed him some of his bottle. His Mom is pumping since he has not yet mastered the complete art of nursing. This morning he went to a wonderful baby center and he is doing wonderful. He already is back to his birth weight.
Alyssa is in the bedroom catching a nap. Poor Vince went back to work a bit on the sleepy side. The kids are tired. Luckily that feeling of never getting enough sleep fades as the baby grows older and continues to fade enough so that parents actually have another child. But even I remember being so tired that I took a nap in the middle of the day even though we had a living room full of guests.
As for me, I could hold Blake all day long. That feeling of a baby moving about in my arms takes me back to those days of mothering a newborn. Wasn't it just yesterday that my kids were infants?
This week will be all about time with Blake and then I will skip a week and then fly to Seattle to visit with Hirsch and his parents. Ditto on holding Hirsch!
Until then...Eileen
